Hunger Of The Pine - Paperback Book

The first novel by international best-selling author Teal Swan, Hunger of the Pine is a compelling exploration of one young woman's struggle with homelessness.

Aria Abbott has never had a home. Drifting through the foster system for most of her life, she finally finds herself in a situation so unbearable that she has no choice but to run away. Sleeping on the streets pushes Aria beyond any suffering she has felt before; the only thing worse than seeing no escape is the knowledge that no one in the world cares enough to try and find her.

Enter Taylor, a homeless young man with a charismatic smile and a dream of fame, fortune, and the sunshine of LA. Swept up in his energy, Aria and Taylor board a greyhound bus and never look back.

In this bright new world, Aria will discover a whole community of people living in the shadows, in the margins of society. As Taylor follows his dreams, Aria follows her heart. But she will discover that it isn't always clear who you can trust, that strangers can be kind, or treacherous, or sometimes as familiar as your own reflection, if you're willing to look hard enough.

Hunger of the Pine

Just wow. A wonderful and eye opening read. I throughly enjoyed it all. The book took me about 3 weeks to read. Warning to any of the emotionally sensitive people who want to read it. I had to put the book down about every page and a half to digest what I read. Reflecting on what just happened and who it related to in my life. I ended up calling my old girlfiends to make sure they were okay. The book is so emotionally charged that I couldn't help grief, or feel happy for the characters. Teal has a way of writing that really speaks deeply to one's soul. I'll reread this book again in a couple months, as it is what I do with my favorite books. There is something to be learned here.

Great young adult novel

I found myself picking up this book so often that I surprised myself because I barely read. I found myself laughing, crying, gasping with shock, and saying "thank god" at the moments where I'd hoped things would work out. This book has opened my eyes in many ways, but most of all to the lives of the homeless. But this book doesn't touch only on the perspective of people without homes. It shows what the behind the scenes can and has looked like for different races, sexual orientations, foster children, those with drug addictions, hoarding addictions, and many more things we categorize but are usually ignorant to the perspective of. Being a young adult myself, I found that I could relate to many of the characters in this and felt it was an inspiring read in a way because it sheds light on the choice to love even at the most difficult of times, which is something we all face and struggle with right now in the world. I couldn't count the amount of realizations I had while reading this. I think, in order to see the truth of our world, every person should read this book to truly get that there are many people we may stereotype and judge who are actually facing a more difficult life than we think. This book will help the world see beyond the surface.

Splendid!

I read the book over the course of a couple of months. It really helped me heal from a lot of trauma as many events helped me deal with hard-to-talk-about issues.

I highly recommend. Teal Swan has a masterful way with words. I believe that humanity needs to hear this story because of the truth within it as well as the relatability to so many cultures and subcultures.
